...you don't mention them at all, but mention the inmates twice? Nah. That doesn't wash. ... Gadget: I can understand your concern and feel certain that others identified the same glaring deficiencies in my blog. If that stuff is true about how you helped prisoners who were bent on hurting themselves, you may be doing exactly what policy requires. Keep up the good work. I did go a little over board by suggesting that the prisoner's families might need our prayers and agreeing to provide the names of those organizations that accept donations. I stopped contributing to causes at my unit, because I felt the money was being appropriated without the recepient's effective consent. You can still be the best person you can be and decline Christian spirituality at the same time. I appreciate your candor. If I knew you better, I have a feeling that I would trust you more than a great number of the people who claim to identify with Christianity. I like your apparent honesty.

The inmates in a Central American prison need our prayers. 358 or more were killed in a prison fire. I'll post it, once I learn which organization is accepting donations. I got plenty of Paper and extra old lumber laying around where can I send it..Sorry but I can't send any Seasoned Mesquite...BBQ season is coming. Would send Gas but its probably cheaper down there anyways.. Do they Need Marshmallows?

Jesus aint got nothin to do with this....If you want to pray - Pray for kids in foster care. Maybe you should be a priest not a prison guard......

There are plenty of them in need of a good trimming due to the drought. There is a Texas Indian tribe that believes in cooking and eating their enemies. Marshmellows are pretty cheap anywhere. Anyone who is not [glow=red,2,300]part[/glow] of the barbeque are [glow=red,2,300]afraid[/glow] to get close enough to roast marshmellows. It sounds like the guards locked the place up and fled from the flames. BTW. Where is a good place to get seasoned Mesquite?

Gadget...When did I say or even suggest in any of my posts that I am "Queen Christian"? That's just a sarcastic remark you apparently find amusing. I haven't made any sarcastic remarks. I have said I understood the pressures you men and women work under and I have admired your decision to choose that kind of work. I just said that when you posture about how tough you are and what you would like to do to the people you despise, it sounds very unprofessonal and frankly I hate the fact that you find it so necessary to sound so angry and frankly as mean as many of your charges. I never said you had to like all inmates, or not come to conclusions as to why they are incarcerated. But yet you seem to judge and sterotype. I don't lump all CO's or even TDCJ in one pot and judge you all the same way. We are all individuals and inmates are included in that as much as you don't seem to understand that.

susanb, I think the thing you are missing is, we do lump all of them together. They are all the same, we are required to treat them all the same- any correctional officer who would attempt to decipher which offender is an "okay guy that made a mistake" is setting themselves up for failure. I know which side any of them will take when it's us against them. Is that always the case? reality, No, but not the chance you'd want to take when it's your backside or career on the line.

But yet you seem to judge and stereotype (I corrected your spelling of stereotype)... We are all individuals and inmates are included in that as much as you don't seem to understand that. We understand that inmates are individuals. But it doesn't matter. They are all criminals in inmate uniforms and must be treated equally & impartially. You can't treat people equally & impartially if you treat them as individuals. Equal & impartial are at the opposite end of the values continuum from individuality. BTW, who are you to judge us? Your last post if full of judgement. Practice what you preach, you preachy old Babyboomer.

It's a strange environment and many / most people shouldn't work there, even a lot of "good people" with the right intentions.

People make mistakes. But those mistakes are theirs. Not mine. Should i feel bad for a felon that put himself/herself behind bars ? Nope.. i didnt put myself in that position. Bad things happen in prisons. Fights, murders, and sometimes even fires. But if those people hadn't committed crimes, they would have been at home and not in that prison. Lose sleep... nope. If you really believe in the bible you must know there had to be a reason they all died there.. right?
