Spin off of the other "policy" topic.
What does TDCJ define as an inappropriate relationship between Employees?
How do they effect morale?
What policy covers Inappropriate Relationships?

There is no policy that prohibits relationships between employees. It is discouraged for obvious reasons, however it continues to thrive in TDCJ.

There is no policy that prohibits relationships between employees. It is discouraged for obvious reasons, however it continues to thrive in TDCJ. Correct. There is no policy against employee's having relationships with each other. In fact, there are a bunch of employee's married to each other, living with each other, and it can be seen at all levels of supervision. The policy on nepotism addresses how and where these employee's may be assigned. The policy that addresses nepotism(I can't remember the policy number off hand) says that immediate family cannot be assigned in the direct line of supervision of each other. So, if I'm a lieutenant and my wife is a CO she can't work on my shift. I can't be her supervisor or in her immediate chain of command. So, a warden can be married to a CO, just not a CO on his or her unit. There are lots and lots of family in TDCJ, married couples, brothers and sisters, cousins, uncles, inlaw's, baby momma's, baby daddy's, and so on. I've never let it bother me that the warden, major, lieutenant, or sergeants were boinkin my co-workers. They're consenting adults. I never, and still don't, worry about it all.

Can these relationships cause problems on the unit? Sure they can. I've seen CO's get a supervisor hooked on them, and then the CO takes advantage of that supervisor. Can these relationships cause some morale problems if the appearance of favoritism happens? Yes, sure it can. Most wardens are pretty good at handling this, at least in my experience. They'll move the supervisors around. Split the couples up if they can.
It's human nature for males and females that work closely together to be attracted to one another. It happens all the time. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. I don't think you'll ever see a policy against employee's having relationships with each other. Too many people would get fired.

Funny ain't it....Say for an example a Major can boink someone in say Parole or another Department but a Major could not boink their secretary. Your correct "attraction" is human nature...I have seen some relationships that worked and never interfered with work. And then again I saw some that caused troubles..Constant fighting.
Some people were known "Horn Dogs" who changed lovers every pre-service..There was a standing joke at one point in time that certain people would make sure to be at pre-service on Day 1 just to get their pick of the litter.
This issue ties in directly with the Favoritism issue, which is why exactly a Good Warden would move around Supervisors and "partners" so there wouldn't be complaints about.
The Good Relations usually started with Publicly announcing that they were a couple and getting Separated. The Bad Relations always started with denying they were a couple and one getting good spots and always got approved time off when they wanted it.
TDCJ reflects social issues in every job and society...There some that keep it in their pants and there are some that can not. Personally I kept Work and Social Separate.

Man, I've worked for majors and wardens who were "boinking" their secretaries. As long as they didn't try to "boink" me in the process I could care less. It does make for entertaining drama from time to time though.

So, I don't chase tail at work. I don't feed into the drama it causes. I do enjoy watching the drama from time to time. It does get entertaining every now and then. Years ago I had a lieutenant that told me he was gonna run me out of TDC(yes, it was TDC back then). I found out he was a homophobe. So, every time I saw him I made it a point to get close to him, and blow in his ear. When we got on elevators together I'd stand real close and touch his hand with my hand, and I'd smile at him. He FREAKED out. Ha ha, he left me alone after that. He ended up making captain, and I made sergeant up underneath of him. We ended up becoming real good friends. I was a pall bearer at his funeral. That is the closest I've come to sexually harassing any employee in my entire career.

The problem with this agency is when you try to keep your personal life private some employees resent it. Some employees want to get all in your business. Then when you try to make them do their jobs they make up lies to change the focus. I was accused so often of banging someone that eventually everyone believed it. There was never any evidence and not one shred of proof, but my Division Director told me, "Where there's smoke, there's fire". It didn't matter that investigation after investigation never sustained an allegation. So now I just say that I'm banging everyone. Besides, who wouldn't want to bang me? I'm pretty good at everything I do.
