Hello my correction officer family I haven't been on in a while. But y'all probably know me from being the only 1 to ever get a no hire letter from Tdcj like two years ago.Well I put another one in a month ago and the same week I put one in for hcso for a detention officer it seems hcso is moving faster. Which company do you all feel is better and why

If you're interested in eventually hitting the streets as a patrol deputy, go with Harris county. Harris county has a good benefits package, and the pay is decent. TDCJ also has a good benefits package. However, TDCJ has made it increasingly difficult for new boots to retire at a reasonable age. They've taken steps to ensure newboots can't retire until they're close to 60. Look at the websites to compare their different packages.
If I were starting all over today, I'd be hiring on with Harris County. LEO's get far more respect than TDCJ corrections officers.

Well right now I don't want to be on patrol I don't mind being a jailer my whole career I'm just going to let God guide me because either job is fine with me can I still post here if I get on with hcso or is this just for Tdcj employees?

Absolutely you can post here!! We welcome anyone in law enforcement to post here. I have much respect for LEO's. In fact, from 1991-2001 I was a reserve deputy for Galveston County Sheriffs Department. I worked patrol and the marine division. I had an opportunity to go full time for them straight in as a supervisor, but turned them down. At the time I was making more money at TDCJ as a sergeant. Now days, they make more money. I haven't looked at Harris Counties pay scale. However, I suspect they have good pay and a good benefits package. I believe they also have a good union that assists them in getting good pay and benefits.
