over the counter braces with no work restrictions I wore special knee braces on both knees under my uniform pants for about 3 years. When I came back to work after my accident I got a full medical release, but had to wear the braces just so I could walk. And to protect my knees. They were heavy duty sport braces made of mostly metal. I would stop by warden Negbenebors office in the morning and he would ask if I had my body armor on. I had to knock on the side of my knees so he knew I was wearing them. You should have no problems as long as you have no restrictions and can perform your job functions.

Might have to wait until after pat search to put them on, or in the case of metal parts after you go through the metal detector.

On Allred you have to be able to completely remove any braces to show your not hiding Non-metallic contraband underneath..even if ya have to sit down to do it...Might even have to drop clothing in front of an appropriate sexed supervisor if underneath clothing...It either comes off or you don't come in..plain and simple. When I blew out my knee I had to stay off simply because of the Brace...Only way I could wear it was in shorts...would not fit under pants..Had to have someone put it on every morning.. could not put it on by myself. and My Doctor at the time would not give restrictions...idiot...qualified to work for TDCJ

I would think it would fall under the "with or without Accomodations" part of the standards. After years of crawling around on concrete I couldn't do it anylonger without knee pads. I was given an old pair from the armory, volleyball type.. I wore those out and got my own and keep them in the car.

wear - not where. As in wearing clothing or knee braces/pads, not as in "where did I hide the contraband that I wanted to put in the knee pads that I want to wear to work". Ha ha just kidding....

Thanks! Feels good to know you are appreciated. Burnin up Comp. and Holiday time, 5 weeks. Already feels odd not coming to work. Be back one day in late August and on to something else?
If I come back it won't be for 20 more. Maybe 13.
