I have been thinking about buying my own gray BDU pants as I think the TDC made & issue pants are of rather low quality. I know of one officer at Lynaugh (who has also worked at Allred) that wears their own freeworld purchased BDU pants.
I just want to make sure if this is authorized and if this is common elsewhere. From what I understand, it's more common in more TDC-heavy areas like Huntsville and Rosharon.
I know it's not unheard of but just want more guidance.

Our warden on clements told us it is authorized by a certain store here in amarillo so I would make sure with your upper rank before you buy but we are allowed to wear our own.

Propper BDU tactical trousers are almost identical to the inmate made pants but are better constructed out of ripstop fabric and much more comfortable. Got mine at quartermaster.com

Got mine at quartermaster.com I have grey sweat pants with matching grey sweat tops. Looks pretty good with the bottoms tucked into combat boots. You can get those at Walmart for $6.99 a pair.

There are a few people here that do it. It all depends on who you are. His advice to me was to try it and see who'd say anything about it.

I bought mine up in Huntsville at the trophy case. Much better quality and breathed extremely well. Their blue polos are amazing too. Much better breathing.

From the Retrieve, the Ramsey farm, Harris County Jail, and some small jurisdiction outside Houston all the way to Estelle, the word is that with what Strykerphoenix is packin; he needs something that breaths.

In Amarillo. They sell shirts and pants. I would check with the Major, or 01 or 02 to see if you are allowed to e=wear your own. But's that just me, I like to be correct with everything i do, as I plan on moving up to 01 in 15 years.
