I have not seen any information posted about the Jordan/Baten Unit. I understand the Baten unit is a transfer facility. I wanted to know any detailed information on the Jordan unit. I am considering applying there.
From what I have read, the staffing levels are at or below 50% at all units offering a bonus.
And also any info on the hiring process. It looks like it takes up to 2 months to complete the background check and academies start every 2 weeks, the closest one being Longview

Plainview*. As I understand, living quarters are offered, but not on the weekends?

Jordan unit is very short staffed. very friendly as well from what I have been told. There is an academy in Amarillo as well but no BOQ there.

The academy for Jordan is in Plainview. They offer one in Pampa about once a year. Housing here is tough to find. Its EXTREMLY understaffed. Laid back unit but nepotism is scary high. Makes morale low. You get assigned to Jordan or Baten by the Warden.

they actually have academy quite often in Pampa. Thank god we no longer have warden Jackson to answer to. He was the cause of many good officers leaving TDC.

there are a lot of rentals and houses for sell in Pampa due to the oil prices going down.

I was thinking of going to JB but it seems like they don't offer much overtime.

I see Dalhart is a bonus unit. Why is it so hard to staff?

I see Dalhart is a bonus unit. Why is it so hard to staff? Take a Drive up that way and take a look around.....Take the Family and ask if they wanna live up that way.

There is nothing to do in Dalhart. It's too far from anywhere decent.

The last time I was through Dalhart was about 1994. It didn't seem bad as far as High Plains towns go. There are a few lakes around, fall & winter trout fishing in the Oklahoma panhandle, and plenty of rabbits & prairie dogs to shoot.
What else could you need for recreation??
As for family, hell, I have an old lady I'd like to get rid of now. Anyone need an extra? They are so wonderful everyone should have several...
