Ms SusanB I guess you haven't read all the bible. I think there is a part that states something like Thou shall not judge...

Marty, I doubt you know anything at all about what bed I sleep in, but that's beside the point. I understand and have always understood what you are saying. All individuals that choose a job like you have, also police, military, and others do have to keep an emotional distance from those they may have to engage with. I simply deplore the lack of understanding that dirtbags or not they are God's children and only He will repudiate them or not finally. You just keep on doing your job and you keep safe. The tough remarks aren't necessary to make your point.

I'm certainly glad I know nothing about the bed you sleep in, as I don't want to be there with you. So, we're good there. As for me making any tough remarks, I haven't made any in this thread. As for a lack of understanding that the convicts are Gods children too, well, mam, I do understand. However, I'm not the one judging them. God will take care of that. There are other boards for folks to cry about their poor convict friends and family. This ain't the site for that. And, thanks for participating here SusanB. We appreciate your comments. Those of us still working corrections will keep on doing our jobs, and trying to be safe. I got a little over a year left to do and I'll hit the rule of 80. Then I can retire. I'm just curious how long it will take for the institutionalization of my brain to go away. ;D After 30 plus years working corrections it may take a while before I start acting and thinking like a normal human being again. ;D

Marty, we certainly do agree about beds!! I think you should know by now that I admire the job you guys do. Coming from the military I also understand guys talking tough. You have a difficult job and I think by and large from what I've been reading you all try to do it professionally. It's just sometimes you "pop off" sounding shallow and unprofessional and I don't think any of you are. Just saying...

I know several of the folks on this board personally, and they are all professional at work.

I don't judge anyone, I don't have empathy for them either and I sure don't enable them by justifying their behavior and comparing them to people who obey the laws, do things the right way and stay out of prison.

The judge judged them, and I'm happy to judge them too. Jesus was proud to judge the money changers in the temple while smiting them, hip & thigh--which is a 17th Century English way of saying he kicked their asses. Jesus is my leader. He leads, I follow.
If more thug asses were kicked, there would be fewer fires in prisons. There is a direct and inverse relationship between a beaten ass & a hot match.

Crosstimber: You're absolutely right about Jesus rebuking the sinner. But he also allowed them to repent, confess their wrongdoing and be forgiven. I also agree that society should judge the wrongdoer and exact a punishment. But you are not Jesus (not that you've claimed to be) and you aren't the judge. You are the protector of the wrongdoer so they do not menace the society we live in. We all, unfortunately need and should respect your service. I am fully aware that "nice" people do not or should not live under your protection, i.e, prison. But evil exists and I know it must be hard for you all to deal with it everyday. That's why I try to end my posts with "keep safe".
PS: I'm not real sure that a "beaten ass & hot match" would do anything but make the mean meaner. At least that's the way to make a mean animal meaner and then they bite back.

I'll forgive them after I kick their asses. Just like Jesus did. Kicking their asses really doesn't make them meaner. It makes them feel loved because they are getting the attention that their mama wouldn't give them because she was too busy getting high and getting laid.
If Mama would have spanked their little asses when they were rebellious juveniles instead of getting her Babyboomer ass high and laid on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights they would be honest and productive citizens instead of rebellious & retarded thugs in prison.

Here's a scenario. The thug who set fire to his cell and burned them all out was recently in the custody of the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons where he completed a sentence and was then deported back to Honduras. This time in the BOP was his only experience in prison prior to being deported back to that lovely Central American banana republic. While in the care of the BOP he is a retard and spends much of his time locked up in SHU. While locked up in SHU he sets fire to his mattress on several occasions because it's great fun to watch the-hated-and-despised-prison-guards scramble to save his sorry ass. It's even more fun when tied & suited BOP managers report to his location and fawn, grovel, and lick his ass while simultaneously chastising the-hated-and-despised-prison-guards for causing the whole mess by not "communicating" with his sorry ass. He finishes his sentence and the next stop an INS detention facility in Texas, Arizona, or Colorado for a couple of weeks until INS can get him a ride south. Finally, Home at last! In another prison. Hey, prison is prison, right? Pretty soon he gets bored and decides that he's due for a little bit of entertainment. Prison being prison and he so enjoys watching the-hated-and-despised-prison-guards scramble to save his sorry ass and get their asses chewed by cocksucking administrators that he sets fire to his cell. The-hated-and-despised-prison-guards scramble to save his sorry ass but then something strange happens. No cocksucking administrators report to his location in order to genuflect in his presence and to chastise the-hated-and-despised-prison-guards who scrambled to save his sorry ass. It's almost like no one really cared. He guesses that something must have gone wrong, so he repeats the process. This time however, the-hated-and-despised-prison-guards fail to scramble to save his sorry ass and decide that Mother Nature, being a woman, is always right of course and they allow her to take her course. Predictably, the result is hundreds of French-Fried thugs! Sound plausible? I just love a story with a happy ending. Heard dis, Bobo...

Takencare; how can the officers be your primary concern when you don't mention them at all, but mention the inmates twice? Nah. That doesn't wash. There's plenty of places that help crooks.
susanb; I don't care at all about those offenders that burned up. I'm not a Christian either, but go on feeling comfortable about judging me when I'm cutting down a crook, or holding onto his legs to save his worthless ass life like a did a few weeks ago, or in a cell wrasslin around with a crook who's blood sugar level is in the single digits three days in a row because of a medical mistake, covered in piss, shit, glucose and peanut butter.
Since you're queen Christian, why don't you tell me what the bible says about passing judgement on others?
