The inmates in a Central American prison need our prayers. 358 or more were killed in a prison fire. I'll post it, once I learn which organization is accepting donations.

Well, bless your heart Takencare. ::) You getting all convict friendly and all. I believe there are many OTHER sites that are for convict family and friends to post that sort of convict lovey dovey stuff. Not here. Or, I could be wrong.......not likely. But, what do all the other Backgate members think? Should Takencare post that crap here? Sound off!!

I will hold off, because it appears that the correctional community wants to hear what they want to hear when they want to hear it. My primary concern is: What happened to the guards? That is what I expected to hear from Marty, but I guess the topic is just too much for even the most senior officers to handle. If they are anything like TDCJ was in the face of inmate rebellions, the highest ranking guards were the first ones to leave the perimeter. Maybe this thread needs to go to thebackgate, where bloggers might be candid.

See there. I may have misunderstood your post. In your original post you made it sound like the inmates were your concern and not the officers. I would agree the officers need our prayers. But, if you are trying to promote praying for the convicts you can do that elsewhere. Not here.

Thank you Marty. It is sad that the inmates had to die like that, but Takencare goes a little bit too far in my opinion in talking about donations.

The post discussed only what has already been reported by the news media. For some reason the officers were not mentioned. I guessed that they got out of there early enough to avoid injuries. I didn't expect many people who post to this website to be very interested in praying for the convicts.

Here's a scenario. The thug who set fire to his cell and burned them all out was recently in the custody of the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons where he completed a sentence and was then deported back to Honduras. This time in the BOP was his only experience in prison prior to being deported back to that lovely Central American banana republic.
While in the care of the BOP he is a retard and spends much of his time locked up in SHU. While locked up in SHU he sets fire to his mattress on several occasions because it's great fun to watch the-hated-and-despised-prison-guards scramble to save his sorry ass. It's even more fun when tied & suited BOP managers report to his location and fawn, grovel, and lick his ass while simultaneously chastising the-hated-and-despised-prison-guards for causing the whole mess by not "communicating" with his sorry ass.
He finishes his sentence and the next stop an INS detention facility in Texas, Arizona, or Colorado for a couple of weeks until INS can get him a ride south.
Finally, Home at last! In another prison. Hey, prison is prison, right? Pretty soon he gets bored and decides that he's due for a little bit of entertainment. Prison being prison and he so enjoys watching the-hated-and-despised-prison-guards scramble to save his sorry ass and get their asses chewed by cocksucking administrators that he sets fire to his cell. The-hated-and-despised-prison-guards scramble to save his sorry ass but then something strange happens. No cocksucking administrators report to his location in order to genuflect in his presence and to chastise the-hated-and-despised-prison-guards who scrambled to save his sorry ass.
It's almost like no one really cared. He guesses that something must have gone wrong, so he repeats the process. This time however, the-hated-and-despised-prison-guards fail to scramble to save his sorry ass and decide that Mother Nature, being a woman, is always right of course and they allow her to take her course. Predictably, the result is hundreds of French-Fried thugs!
Sound plausible?

I sure hope none of you tough guys profess to being a Christian. You certainly don't sound like you've ever heard of Jesus Christ let along his teachings.

I sure hope none of you tough guys profess to being a Christian. You certainly don't sound like you've ever heard of Jesus Christ let along his teachings. SusanB, Christian or not, those of us who work in corrections MUST maintain a distance from the individuals we are responsible for keeping inside the fence. By that I mean, we must remain emotionally detached from anything that happens to them. To do otherwise would compromise our ability to deal with tragic emergencies in our penal institutions. So, what you'll generally see from correctional staff is what might appear to outsiders as disdain for the inmates. Sometimes our attitudes could even appear as animosity toward the convicts. But, most of us when faced with life and death emergencies will do the right thing. We'll be taking care of business while your sleeping nicely in your bed.

The truth is susanb is that you want us on that wall; you need us on that wall. You need us to protect the freedom and liberty you cherish, but seem to disdain the ones who provides it. You want the truth susanb – YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH! Just feel comfortable knowing that the dirtbag that makes you his next victim will be safe in his cell reading his Bible proclaiming to be a Christian too.
