No. Hr said that they have a back log, so the 4-6 week time frame for call backs is being pushed to 8-10 weeks.

How long do you think it could realistically take? I want to take a vacation before I start, but not if it means I'll have to be out of work for months.

Over the years I've seen the call back time very. I've seen it from as little as two weeks, to as long as 3 or 4 months. Keep in mind the folks who process the applications, and make the calls, are human. Some area's of the department could be short handed in HR. Or, they may have an abundance of applications. It could be all kinds of things. Realistically, I would expect 6-8weeks to be reasonable. If I didn't hear anything in 8 weeks I'd be calling them up, or visit in person, to inquire about your status.

Idk. I asked HR if they are halting academies until September and she said that's not true. She said they're still having academies. Did you hear something different?

They are still having academy's. The training requirements have increased a little. Our OJT's have to do a little more training. So, the process takes a bit longer. Not a big deal.

Also, I hear they need 3500 officers. I wonder how the oil field and the recent tragedy will affect attrition and hiring.

I pity the poor supervisor that gets this one.

What's not fair is that this agency gets itself into a position that they have to hire douche bags like you.

It's gotta be that the high need for officers is making HR drink from a fire hose. Just too many people to wade through. Many people that apply can't wait 3 months to get hired, therefore they just move on to something else. Seems like a simple solution would be for TDCJ to hire more folks to help with the hiring process.

Saw about 20 cars in the visitors' lot last week - new class? Realistically these won't even make a dent on our current situation. We've got officers leaving for various reasons and school is starting up next month so there go some more.
