Is it just me , or does warden Smith friendly to inmates more than his staff? He got his rank by burning every subordinate beneath him. If something happens it's always the LTS fault, and the administration can wipe their hands clean. This Warden told me that I didn't have permission to transfer to another unit like he owns me. Then they backdoor find something to write you up for to keep you from transferring. I've given up on Wynne administration and TDCJ. After I tried to stand my ground, and tried to transfer to a unit that would be better for myself and my family, Warden Smith told me to be careful about burning bridges for trying to transfer. Threatening more write ups. I'm going to take this job offer at the oil field and say goodbye to this place. 10 years of my life wasted at TDCJ.

Too many wardens try to use intimidation, scare tactics, bullshit write ups......etc to manage employee's. Damn few got what it takes to garner loyalty from their employee's. I've seen that a bunch in my career. More so in recent years than in past years. Get a clue wardens, your staff make or break you. Take care of them. Remember, bad Karma is a bitch. She will come back and bite you in the ass.

For anyone reading this. the wardens at wynne warden strong and warden smith are very strong racist and both of them are joke. if you are not in a click in wynne then it is a wrong place to be. captain deigo and co are bent on spoiling peoples career for no reason. its like they have the devil seated on thier hearts if they want you out of the system they can lie and write you up for nothing and when you try to defend yourself they make the case look worst and send you to mediation where they often influence the director who is also a dumb ass telling him on the phone they dont want you back in tdcj in turn the director will dance to thier tune and give you final cruxification. investigation is means nothing once a supervisor lie on you and write you a case your word means nothing they go by the word of the supervisor who lied on you.that is where a CO becomes helpless no matter how he or she try to bring out the truth. the policy means nothing even they themselves dont follow the policy. as far as i know tdcj is a joke it is a bad and corrupt agency that is bent on spoiling peoples career through bad supervisors and directors. the Racism in the agency is big. At mediation they make you resign and when you try to reapply they will keep on turning down your reemployment they wont want to rehire you. Not until you go in deep into the agency you will think they are saints. dont be deceived tdcj is not a good agency to work with. As someone use to say there is evil in the system. Racism in TDCJ??? Really. Maybe 50yrs ago. Not anymore. Not today. In fact, I've seen a lot of the opposite. I can name quite a few African American males and females that went up through the ranks to become high ranking officials in TDCJ. That includes folks from other countries. Not only that, but TDCJ hires and promotes many females up the ranks. And, the ladies are doing quite well thank you. In fact we have a lady who is our director, Lori Davis. We have many African American females that have gone up the ranks as well. No sir. I haven't seen the racism in TDCJ that you claim is here. I started in '82. When I applied and got an interview it was an African American Captain who interviewed me. One of my sergeants at Ramsey was Sgt Palmer, God rest his soul. He eventually became a training captain. At any rate, I don't buy the accusation of racism in TDCJ, not as a whole anyway.

Racism...No Promoting Incompetent Supervisors...Everyday You and mley are assuming the disgruntled post was written by a non-white member of society. If you guys (white , over 40) haven't noticed the pendulum has swung...making Y'ALL the victims of racism...don't be all PC about it...it is what it is... I do wonder which director they are referring to..."he". Regional? Tony O'Hare, Deputy director Billy Hirsch? Isn't Warden Strong due to retire any day? Which assistant warden was beaten up in the chapel at Wynne recently?

Which assistant warden was beaten up in the chapel at Wynne recently? You know what ASSuming does. LOL, even with my assumption, I still haven't seen the racism you all speak of. Are there racist individuals working for our agency? Hell yes there is. Is our agency racist as a whole? NO. It's not. And, I would challenge anyone to show me where there's evidence of racism in our promotions. Is there favoritism in our promotions sometimes, YES. That's built in. When you have a single person, the Warden, who makes the decision on a promotion there will be favoritism. It's human nature. If I'm the warden and I got a person whom I've known and worked with a long time go up for a promotion board, and I don't know any of the other applicants as well, who do you think I'm gonna promote? I'm gonna promote the person that I know and trust. Sometimes that type of system results in promoting folks who may or may not be able to handle the position. Another thing that happens quite often is not enough applicants apply. So the warden is faced with promoting someone who really may not be ready for promotion. For lack of a better term, the bossman doesn't have much choice in who he or she promotes. The applicant pool is too small. That's happened a lot lately, as evidenced by the no selection notices being put out. No selection means the bossman wasn't willing to promote anyone from the small pool of applicants. Anyhow, I don't think the pendulum has swung. There's plenty of white guys getting promoted. Much of our agency leadership are white guys. The race of an employee shouldn't matter to anyone. It doesn't to me, and never has.

I know that some of the writing skills displayed are atrocious. That should be enough to keep anyone from being promoted in this line of work, where what you write may wind up in court documents for all the world to see a thousand years from now.

If you want to be a supervisor you should have a good command of the English language, and know how to put it on paper.

I always called it "cocktasting." While the word "ASS" has never been to offensive to most, the term "cop" gets all the bells ringing for the whiney babies that get butthurt anytime they hear something they think is offensive. So, "cop" is mostly used in private, and never at work where the buttercups will get their little feelings hurt. LMBO edited to add: notice the automatic offense'o'meter has corrected the term C O C K to cop. Damn computers.
