Best wishes to a speedy recovery Officer Hernandez. BE SAFE It won't get better either, especially if the administration starts releasing the hard core gangsters from seg. The STGMO is limping along as it is, and the problem will not be going away. And, the gangsters know this. They aren't stupid.

Offender went Off because of Shaving issue... Assault took in D Space Closet Area in a Blindsided Attack...should be noted 3 Other Offenders pulled Attacking Offender off before Staff could arrive

Will they ship them somewhere else for their protection?

Guess it goes to show they aren't all trash but, as soon as you think one is half way ok they do something stupid. We Officers have a tough job and don't forget it. Even the three that helped our good officer have to be watched. Why did they do it? Because they are good people, Because they think someone will give them special favors or what? WHo knows watch yourself and our partners. Don't leave your duty position until the shift is ready then go as a group..

And Stand By for Support...Besides Rank and the Officer who car pools with him...There was Only 3 Shift Co-Workers outside of 10 Bldg ER waiting to give support....Everyone else burned off or Knew Nothing About it Happening

I said it before and got chastised for it but this latest incident is one more reason I tried to point out how policy needs to be changed or enforced to keep our officers on the unit until not only their relief comes but their shift officially ends. That brief window when both shifts are supposed to be on the unit is the only time we shouldn't have to worry about having the necessary staff to respond should same be required.
That said, C/O Hernandez was lucky but who's to say about the next officer(s)? The inmates that pulled the aggressor off C/O Hernandez prior to his backup in GRAY arriving are hardly model citizens but they stepped up in those first few minutes cause they knew it was the right thing to do at that time. Not every officer may be as lucky.

I guess waiting for all the members of your shift before you exit the unit (not the parking lot) is a thing of the past. If we are not a team then we are beaten cause there are lots more of them then us. We are always in a hurry to get home but someday that might be you with an offender assaulting you and nobody around to help. At least stay until your building is ready to leave. We are all we have!! How is Officer Hernandez doing?

Our shift in pamio still wait till everyone has been relieved before we all leave as a group and we still get out on time. The problem that I have seen in genral population mostly is that some supervisors keep there officers in turnout till at least 5:30 and the officers on the other shift do not get relieved till almost 6:00.

Exactly.. Shift Turnout is not about BS It should be short and sweet..assign Duty Positions..Tell Important stuff..get the Hell Out..instead 90% is wasted time our Post orders use to prove the Point..On Daily Schedules it stated 0615..Shift Turnout Complete and 1815 Shift Turnout Complete

That would be too easy and efficient - assign positions, update everybody on the essentials then head out the door AND have the returning shift respond in kind. Then the relieved officers really could legitimately and with peace of mind leave cause everybody is accounted for. A few of our sgts. do hold everybody on the building until all officers have been relieved and personally I like it that way. It's not like a couple of minutes are going to break you.

Well if you cut turnout short then when will the rank have time to bitch about the CO that called in sick. It always makes me wonder why you would bitch at the people that are there about the ones that called in sick..... How is the Officer doing....
