Our Region 3 STG Coordinator is now our search team sergeant. So, it looks like we have an opening for regional STG Coordinator now. The job comes with your own office, a state car for travel, no need for a uniform, good hours, a state cell phone......................and low pay!! Any takers?!!!
Seriously, we could use someone if anyone is willing to do the job. We are now the 3rd region without a coordinator. Region 1 and 2 lost their coordinators to better paying jobs as well. Everyone is hoping the agency will see fit to raise their pay so they make more money than the STG sergeants they supervise. Until then it may be hard to get a replacement.

The position is the regional stg coordinator for region 3. I dont know yet when it will post. I believe it is an admin tech 4 position. I will have to get mor info for you guys. It was just vacated this week by Mr Garza. So hr hasn't posted anything yet. I will try to find out more for you guys on Monday.

Your right Marty the position is a vary low paying job. Most of the region 3 gang sgt. wouldn't want to put in for it due to the pay. Reg 1&2 also don't have a coordinator for the same reason Garza left. The jobs have been vacant for several months now and it appears that they won't be filled anytime soon. They need to at least allow for a lateral transfer from a Sgt. Its not a job just anyone can do.

And, no stg sergeant is going to want to take a pay cut to do the job. The agency has to do something, or they will be without regional stg coordinators, period. Then, the Huntsville office will be tasked with training, and all the rest of the work. They are already stretched thin. The region two slot has been open for more than just a few months. It's been open since Grant got his position in Huntsville. Why they have done nothing to fix the problem yet, I don't know. Time will tell how it all plays out. I was an STG sergeant for about 14yrs or so. So, I know what those guys go through. I have the utmost respect for all of them. They do a bang up job on the units with gathering intel and confirming the gangsters. They deserve better from our leadership.

From what I've heard there isn't no rush to fill the spots. The new STGMO hasn't requested the funds for an increase in pay for those spots. Those in the STGMO office will have more work as long as those spots are vacant. In region 3 most of your STG staff are fairly new and there is going be a lot of issues they haven't seen and will have questions, with no one in the regional spot they'd have to try and contact either another STG officer or the STGMO. Now they might be waiting for the budget to see if they can get bone thrown their way, but i doubt it.

We have a few folks in region 3 the less experienced stg sergeants can call. I have fielded a question or two already, and we definitely have a few stg sergeants with years of experience that will help us out. So, that's a good thing. The folks in STGMO are definitely gonna have an increase in the work load. OOOOOOOORRRRR, they'll pass the work off onto the remaining 3 regional stg coordinators. They wouldn't do THAT, would they? ;D ;D

I would be interested Crap give me a Car A car is a big boost, especially if you can fill it up with the State's gas. Most of us would be better off with our own car and a mileage reimbursement. There are too many problems with possessing a poorly maintained employer's vehicle. This is a good time to combine the regional STG Coordinator positions with the regional Safe Prisons positions. Don't worry about having experience. I doubt that the hiring committee will want anyone who already knows that job. If they do, it will depend on which experienced people apply.

The job doesn't come a state car, it's one of many pieces of crap cars the regional office has. I'd say being a former safe prison officer and STG Sgt, being tasked with doing both the regional Safe Prisons coordinators job and the STG coordinators job wouldn't be a good idea. To many things going on in both communities. Seems all Huntsville (STGMO) is concerned with is funding their new Fusion center, which requires in part information provided by your unit STG office.

To many things going on in both communities. Seems all Huntsville (STGMO) is concerned with is funding their new Fusion center, which requires in part information provided by your unit STG office. The regional cars will get you from point a to point b. They do the job, even if they are a bit ragged out. They work. As for staff being both STG and Safe Prisons, it's one of those things, you work with less and do the best job you can. In region 3 we have some great people doing STG. Fortunately, most of the units have assigned a co to help out with the safe prisons side of things. That helps a lot, if the warden lets the co take care of business and doesn't pull them too much. I'm not sure how valuable the new fusion center will be. Time will tell. To me, the REAL value is in the unit staff pounding the pavement. The guy's that KNOW their gangsters, and how to get info from them. Some of the guy's are very good at what they do. They need all the support they can get. Perhaps the fusion center will be helpful in analyzing the info they provide. I know there are some good folks working the fusion center. So, hopefully, they can help everyone with their analysis of info. Hopefully, the agency will see fit to raise the pay grade for the regional stg coordinator position so that they may get applicants to fill all three slots. But, for now, it doesn't look like that's gonna happen anytime soon.
